Great performances from STA at ITF tournaments this week

Several Sutton Tennis Academy (STA) players have performed well on international soil in the week beginning July 21. At an International Tennis Federation (ITF) Junior Grade 5 tournament in Donnybrook, Ireland, Lawrence Perrin came through qualifying to make it to the semi-finals of the singles event while also winning the doubles round. 

Exciting times as STA takes the Team Tennis title

This weekend Sutton Tennis Academy (STA)'s U14 boys team played in the National Finals of the Aegon Team Tennis competition at the National Tennis Centre (NTC), having qualified for this event after winning the highly competitive South East Division. 

Cheam High - UK's Top Tennis School

Both Cheam High boys’ and girls’ tennis teams reached the Under 18 Team Tennis Schools National Finals 2014, held the week after Wimbledon (July 8-11) in Sheffield. The boys’ team finished fifth in the Glanville Cup and the girls’ team finished third in the Aberdare Cup after a very narrow defeat against Queenswood, the eventual winners. 

Three titles for STA at the Nike Junior International in Edinburgh

Two of Sutton Tennis Academy (STA)’s players have come out on top at the Nike Junior International tournament in Edinburgh. Jessica Crivelletto – who was seeded first in the tournament – won the International Tennis Federation 18 & Under Girls clay competition at Craiglockhart Tennis Club, which ran from July 7 to 12. 

Purcell loses in €64k Nottingham tournament

A Sutton Tennis Academy (STA) player reached the final round of qualifying at the 2014 Aegon Nottingham Challenge at the weekend. The grass court tournament prepares players for the Wimbledon Championships, with male and female athletes competing for a prize money of €64k and $50k, respectively, as well as ATP/WTA world ranking points. 

May Tournament Round Up

The past few weeks have been incredibly busy for Sutton Tennis Academy (STA) players, with several of our players winning or reaching the finals of many important tournaments both internationally and more locally. 

Edgbaston, France and Slovakia are recent destinations of choice for STA players

The week beginning April 21 saw great success for Sutton Tennis Academy (STA) players both internationally and within the UK. Lily Miyazaki won the Aegon British Tour in Edgbaston after defeating Kyria Dunford 6-2 6-4 in the quarter-final, fellow STA player Jodie Lawrence Taylor 6-3 6-3 in the semi-final, and Nicole Peterson 3-6 6-3 6-1 in the final. At the same tournament another STA player, Polina Yuzefovich, retired in the quarter-finals.

Easter tournament triumphs

The Easter period marked a successful time for Sutton Tennis Academy (STA) players, with numerous students making it to the final rounds of – and, in some cases, winning – several tournaments across the UK.

At the Tennis Europe tournament in Nottingham, Brandon Murphy was the 14 & Under Boys runner-up. Murphy lost 6-3 6-2 to Jack Draper in the final after beating Josh Wilson 6-2 7-5 in the semis.
